a la carte: top plate engraving on mp

does anyone know where the serial number is engraved on an a la carte mp that has a blank top surface? is it on the hot shoe, or maybe on the back side of the top plate along with the 'leica camera made in germany' engraving?

kind of a trivial question, and i doubt many people know, but i'm 2k away from getting the leica of my dreams!
