Who says film is the preferred look?
Anyway photoshop can make small & large grain, monochrome and color, and it can be done with "bland if" to confine it the the middle tones with blended transitions.
Add a proper curve and you can not see the difference.

If you're viewing on a monitor. Compare an analog silver gelatin print with a digital print and there is an aesthetic difference.
