rover just hit post 6000!!

incredible amount of posting and if any have ever noticed, rover steers clear of the 'controversial' posts and all of the 'personality' posts.

proving that you can have lots to say, have postive impact, all without stirring the pot.

thanks for your contribution to the forum ralph!!

I guess I need to get serious about posting, since you hit 10K to now with just shy of 12K I have about 500, so catching UP is kinda hard if ya post 4 times as much as I do....hmmm I do believe catching up is not an option😀

on the other hand without the regulars posting there is not a board in the first place, congrats Rover

congrats kim!

nothing wrong with being on the forum.
we could be spending our time & money in the bar/pub, at tim's, drinking coffee and eating too many donuts...here, we at least can share a common interest, teach & learn and enjoy the gear & photos.

Thanks guys, I really enjoy it here and am glad that you think I am a positive part of the gang. I like photography, camera, film, processing... and I respect everyone's opinions and desires some time to express them. We are a big community and discussion is good, but lets always remember that it is just discussion and get back on point asap. After all, it is the topics that make the RFF that we all have in common.

There is another way to look at this too. No matter how hard I have tried, it looks as if Joe will be lapping the field shortly. In a very short time he will have twice as many post as anyone else here. Wow, I wonder if the ticker will keep counting up when he gets to 100,000?

Thanks again guys.

Way to go, Rover! Your contributions are the kind that keep RFF on an even keel and this forum worth returning to often. I look forward to reading your next 6,000 posts! 🙂

I don't know Walker, I am sure there is a whole lot more fluff than substance in the stuff I share around here.

6000 more, wow, that is a lot.

Thanks again guys.

The amazing thing is that rover is on the forum at some unearthly hour in the morning, and he is making sense! I can't get over that. 😉

One really big tip that I learned from rover was about 6 months into my membership here. I had caught the inevitable GAS of course and was engaged in a furious buying spree of apparently everything that I set my eyes on at eBay. In the middle of it all I read a rover post ruminating about the fact that one's purchases should be "focused" on a "long term goal" and that one shouldn't get sidetracked into buying undoubtedly attractive but ultimately transient things. It wasn't just money, he seemed to be saying, it was energy too...

Hmm, I said, this bloke knows what he's talking about. I did need two "new" Leica lenses and they weren't getting any closer. A selling spree of large proportions ensued and I got my lenses two or three months later. Thanks Ralph, I don't know if you practice what you preach but I have stayed on the straight and narrow ever since then. 🙂

So congratulations on your amazing post milestone, and thanks from us all for contributing your organizing skills to the second RFF book! Another notable in the history of RFF!!

Wow Peter, I said those things? I must have still been asleep. 😱

I thought about it, yes I am pretty much practicing what I suggested. I own a whole bunch of 50mm lenses, but my long term goal is 1950s. I would like a nice collection of the RF cameras of the 1950s and a bunch of 50s, maybe 19. I have given in to the realization that I am a collector, but that isn't a bad thing. As long as I know what I want to collect I can do so without going into the poor house, or needing to buy a bigger house.
