A new 35mm f2 Biogon or "Bokeh king"

Correct. The UC-Hexanon is gleaming black enamel over brass. Imagine how much a limited run of Summicrons finished in black paint would be selling for today?

There is one, the 35/2 ASPH Black paint version

That UC is a sweet looking lens but it's biggest drawback is that is only focuses to 0.9M, and the Summarit to 0.8M. Most others go to 0.7M

Perhaps what we really need is a thread where we list all of the terrible 35mm lenses.
Could be the shortest 35mm lens thread ever.
Are there any bad 35mm lenses? Or only different 35mm lenses?

I had the Zeiss 35/2 for a while and thought it was a perfectly capable lens. It is bigger than some of the alternatives, but it's not *big*. About the size of a 50 Summicron. Ergonomics were good, image quality was great. The pictures I have from the lens are just as good as the ones I've taken with expensive Leica lenses 🙂

I only sold it because the focal length wasn't ideal for me.

I'd definitely go for it over the V 4 Summicron. I'd have to think about it compared to the Summicron ASPH; I'd take the ASPH if money were even. Which it's not. Haha.

Have you had a chance to compare it to the 2.8? If so, what did you think?

I have 'em both and have compared them as well as I can. I shared some comparison images here. The lenses are both very nice. I bought them both with the notion to sell one, which is still my intent. I was ready to sell the 2.0, but then took some pictures with it and now I may need to keep it.

I have the ZM 35mm f/2, and I agree with Tim - It might be bigger than a lot of 35's but it's not BIG. I was using the tiny 40mm Summicron f/2 before I acquired the Biogon, and had no trouble adjusting to the size difference at all, nor do I think it makes me any more conspicuous on the street (even in bright, flashy silver!) It's probably the best gear purchase I've ever made (well, that and the M4 on which it's mounted), and worth every penny. A few recent examples:

I had the IV Summicron for a few years. It was my favourite lens on my M6. I recently traded it, and got a Voigtlander 35mm f1.4 I am very happy with. The IV crom was great, but it ended up literally falling to bits. I bought it used, well used, and I used it a lot, so got my money's worth from it. The worst think was the focussing tab which kept falling off and breaking. And I never got on with the lens hood or silly hood cap which kept falling off.

It as great for black & white, but I can't say I got spectacular colour from it.

I have just bought a Zeiss Ikon ZM, and decided to buy the 35mm f2 Biogon as th main lens for it. I's still waiting for it. I figured if I wanted small, and sharp, I could stick with the Nokton. But the colour shots I have seen from the Biogon f2 made me want it.

I am looking forward to it being my new summicron f2 - my main lens I reach for 90% of the time...
