Hi there,

I'm the new proud owner of a Canonet, picked up on Ebay. Some first obeservations:

- Very nice finish and construction
- Clear viewfinder
- Little disapointment for the patch. Sometime it makes it hard to focus. Maybe I was expected Leica kind of patch
- Extremly quiet shutter !
- A little surprised by the rewind mechanism. Basically, I can rewind between shot. I have to look at the little window to see if it's red or white to verify if the shutter is armed or not. This is a little different ... But I should get use to it pretty fast.

I'll develop the first roll tonight and will post some picture. Hopefully, they'll be good !

Welcome to the world of Canonets. The wind mechanism should lock so you can't double wind. This is a fairly common fault. If you search the threads, there was a fix just recently so I won't repeat it. You will have to lift the leatherette which on a Canonet is a real ******.

I knew there was something wrong :) Oh well, it doesn't really matter since you have the window which is a good indicator. But I'll look into that fix anyway ...

Thanks !

I fail to find the thread about the double winding issue ... Could someone point it to me ?

Thanks !

Thanks for the pictures ! That will come handy !!

One thing I've noticed today that I didn't notice yesterday. When I'm on the 'A' setting, the aperture change when I turn the focusing ring ! Looks like it think that I have a flash on the hot shoe (I've read that if you're using a flash, the aperture will ajust based on your focusing distance ... But in that case, I don't have a flash !!) .. I took perfect picture yesterday on 'A' but didn't notice the behavior ... What's happening ?

Fred

Maybe the meter has a problem ... I'm also able to take a reading with the lens cap on ...

Fred

Argg nobody can give me a clue of what could be wrong ? Is this a regular behavior with these camera ?
