A new x100?

Yeah, that's my wish as well, but: Using a DOF scale requires the focusing ring to have focus distance markings on it, which requires physical focus linkage, rather than pure fly-by-wire where the focus ring keeps turning in both directions. So Fuji would have to completely redesign their manual focus system just to simply add a DOF scale to the lens barrel. I'm not holding my breath, alas.

Nothing new. Olympus did it already more than a year ago. This is exactly what I would expect from a modern AF lens which delivers also high quality MF usage.

I'm sorry to hear they didn't beef up the back buttons. Happy about the rest though and will buy one. The X100 has given me the most "keepers" of all of my cameras. Excited about the hybrid focus.

I personally find the rumour of hybrid AF more exciting than improvements in manual focus, altho they're very welcome.

But I really, really hope they also decrease the minimum focus in non Macro mode. That's the biggest PITA at the moment.

I am highly intrigued by the "new" X100s rumors. Digital split image? X-Trans. Better EVF from the EX-1. Supposedly the autofocus system will employ both phase and contrast detection.

Fuji seems like such an innovative company. Always thinking outside of the box and combining innovation with expertise.

Its just amazing to me that a superficially niche camera like an X100 was so successful. While the major brands continue to crank out incremental advances in SLRs IQ, Fuji comes out of left field with a retro APSC, fixed focal length, manual controls, and new designed hybrid viewfinder system.

I am very excited. Hopefully the price does not go through the roof... although $1200 was not cheap for the original. However, I see the value in a "do it all" photography focused pocketable giant killer.

What will be the complaints about this future model?

Not mine, but I predict:

Focus by wire
AF still not fast enough
X-Trans sensor not properly supported by mainstream PP software
Fixed lens
OVF accuracy (regarding framelines and focusing point)

raw processing...

Raw processing issues will be a distant memory soon.

I suppose it's possible the buttons are the same, but maybe they are referring to the dimensions as opposed to those details. The buttons are one thing that bugged me about the x100.

There will of course be plenty of complaints about the x100s, what else is the internet for? :)

It seems like raw processing is likely on it way with all the hoopla over capture one beta release. Although that would likely mean an investment for many in new software on top of the price of a new camera.

It just seems like one of the most interesting and innovative camera to come out in some time just became more innovative and interesting again.

The more I print and read the more I realize resolution is not the end all be all of photography. I just made two 18X20 prints from around 5 mp scans of negatives, and at the proper viewing distance you cannot see the pixelation. This camera will have more than Ill ever be able to put on paper.

I just can't wait to see what this model brings. It has to be an improvement in handling. The IQ was already pretty great from the X100. Add the results from the X-trans in the X series has already been shown to be stellar.

Drool+GAS means time to start saving. I do want it in black though.......
