I'm going to ask a stupid question in search of an intelligent answer. When using non-coded lenses on an M, and after selecting the appropriate lens in the menu, do you have to go through the menu selection process each time that lens is mounted? In other words, there's no memory carryover in the M body, right?

You can set up four presets on the M262 that can be quickly accessed from the menus, and which cover all settings including lens type. I tend to shoot with one configuration for file type, ISO settings etc, so I have the presets configured to match these overall settings but with the different uncoded lenses I shoot. If you have any coded lenses bear in mind that you will need one of the presets to cover their use.

There is no “memory” like the M10 where you can have one uncoded lens the camera will set if you mount an uncoded lens. At one time I was more concerned about it but today use 6-bit lenses virtually exclusively. I’m looking eventually to workout being able to add uncoded lenses later in the EXIF data, which I prefer rather than coding my Voigtlander 35mm f1.7 VM as an f1.4 Summilux.
