shooter of stuff
Had to box up my M8.2 this morning for a trip back to Solms (though the excellent folks at Popflash) for repair.
The thing's just been shutting down at random points during shoots. Sometimes it's fixed by popping the battery out and popping it back in. Other times, it requires me to put in a different battery.
Now I'm just hoping for a relatively quick turn-around and that it's something they can actually fix.

Sad to hear buy, you must have something like a M6 kicking around as a backup.

Nice. Glad to hear it's working well.
I do have an M2 on the shelf. I wonder if my stash of chemicals is still good...

If it's Rodinal, no worries.
They'll probably dig up a bottle of it on Time Team in 250 years and it'll still be fine.

There are good ones out there, and there are ones that need to be serviced. The good ones are not likely to come up for cheap sales regularly, IMHO.

Mine didn't. there were a couple of episodes--a green streak in one shot, an SD card which seized up--but on the whole, the camera behaved pretty well the whole time I had it.

Sorry to hear about the M8.2
As long, as I got my second hand one, I used it on a daily basis and tote it with me at all times.
It just seems, to have no flaws (except, not going over ISO2500) ;-)

I know of no good ones. All the M8s I know of, M8.2 included, have been to Solms. All of them for the Red Line. I strongly recommend buyers of 2. hand M8s to make sure that the piece they buy really has been to Solms. Because, when they get fixed they work OK.
From Leica's point of view the M8 must have been an economical catastrophe.
I have the chance to buy a 2.hand M9 right now. But I am sceptical. It is expensive - costs 30% more than the price I gave for my M8 new. But the most sceptical I am of the reliability of the M9.

Mine hasn't, for a start. Just keeps on working. It's just under 4 years old now.
Cheers,
R.
I've had mine for almost a year, bought second hand. It has not had any issues. It is a late production M8.
