I really enjoyed this. I agree that stills are wonderful used this way. One can linger on them, while video scenes slide by and are gone. A fascinating portrait very well presented.

Bojan, many thanks. I very much appreciate this style of communication as the ability to introduce voice adds a whole new dimension to a static photo or even series of such. I have been trying to integrate this into my work. My website has a few slide shows with related background music and text stories with integrated photos. But I am currently struggling with editing and the technical aspects of recording voice to track along with a slide show of photos. I may be contacting you off line for some ideas and suggestions.

Alex Webb's "crossings" about the US / Mexico border is the example I use as the benefit of your approach. I own the book. I have seen the prints in a museum presentation. Yet, his narrated slide show inmotion.magnumphotos.com/essay/crossings is by far my favorite mode as it conveys so much more.
 
Bob, in my experience, with sound, like with photography, the equipment and the software do make a difference. A good recorder with a windsock and good software for editing go a long way. I really like Hindenburg for audio editing. It's fabulous. Journalist Pro version has everything you'd ever want (as part of my work I also produce a podcast) and they often discount it by 50% on World Radio Day (Feb 13). The recorders are like cameras, a balance of what feels right in your hand and price matters. I'd like to have a digital Leica and a Marantz recorder, but, you know, Olympus Pen F and a TASCAM seem to be working just fine ;) Happy to chat off-line and share whatever useful experience I may have...

I just watched all of these slide shows. Very well done, Fürst. I do like the way that each person tells their story without any interruptions at all, combined with the background sounds that bring the viewer into the environment. I get the feeling I would like to know these people.

(Also, starting to migrate my “visual poems” based on the epigrams of Antonio Porchia into Vimeo from the orphanage of Vibbiddi ;-/. Thanks for the inspiration in that regard as well.)
 
Thank you Bojan I just finished listening and watching all of your slide shows........very enjoyable and educational.....the one about the First peoples radio show hit home ...the woman who works with me keeps a small radio on and listens to the Navajo radio station for news and events as well as music in her native language.

Hello Bojan, I'm thankful for the updates to this thread as I otherwise would likely never have discovered it. Thus far I've only viewed the presentation of the barber. I do plan to watch the others. I just wanted to tip my cap and compliment you on your choice of storytelling format. Very nicely done.
