We're all light!
Galfriend and me had a friend over for dinner tonight. (No Hannibal Lecter jokes, please.) A great time was had, and afterward, I put on an album by Fairground Attraction, The First Of a Million Kisses, the only album they managed to make. The cover, as any fan of the group knows, was an Elliot Erwitt photo of a couple caught in mid-buss in a rear-view mirror. The song, IMO, is all but timeless in its imagery, but I can't help but wonder...was it the photo that inspired the words? It does happen, sometimes. And the lyrics of this song make me wistful (the fact that galfriend agrees is astonishing to me). Any other bits of evidence to this effect? (not just in this case, of course.)

Loudon Wainwright wrote a song (Half Fist) based on a family snap of his Grandpa. I can't remember the biog details of whether the two of them ever met, but the song expands on the theme that LW sees himself in that photograph.
Wonderful stuff.
