A tragic loss! Neopan 400!

I'll go for Tri-X when I'm out of Neopan, here in Japan the price doesn't differ that much I think - and I do like the way it looks. The Ilford films are more expensive and harder to get though..

edit - I just saw my older stash of Neopan is expired slightly. I know I'll shoot it anyway but what do you do in general if anything? Do you rate slightly slower or faster if at all?
Cheers for any willing to share their experience..

I suppose I was snoozing when Foma 200 had their problems, but Foma had terrible problems in coating 120 films with dirt in the emulsion causing pinholes. I have a stock of the 200 in various formats and names, but mostly in 35mm.

I may have to take advantage of the government give back to buy a new freezer.

Regards, John

I noticed on Freestyle Photo a couple off day's ago that there next shipment of Neopan 400 (120's) was due in at the end of April but today I see Neopan 400 in 120 has been removed from there site...

Looks like I ordered this lot just in time.

I'm too broke for 120 right now, but my next investment will be a few bulk rolls of Legacy Pro 400, which is a rebrand after all.

Price was irrelevant to me - it's results I want and I don't mind paying for that.

The tonality of Neopan 400 is different to HP5+ or Tri-X. One thing I like is to be able to use the same film in 35 mm and MF to retain the same tonality when sets of images are presented together. I'll either have to struggle to make 120 Tri-X or HP5+ look like Neopan, or also switch for 35 mm. Either way it means more experimenting when my system had been stable for almost 10 years.

If you're not looking for cheap prices, you can google "foto r3": it's a store in Spain where I buy film and chemicals... They have Neopan400 in 120...

Cheers,

Thats quite a stash of film!

I only suggested Tri-X or HP5+ because they are high quality 400 speed traditional B&W films. I know Neopan is finer grained than those two, but I don't find that grain is that obtrusive in 120. T-MAX 400 might be a good choice too.

I'd be upset too if my film was leaving. At least this time there are a good selection or reasonably similar replacement films. Maybe Fuji will find a replacement for the chemical though, and bring the film back in 120.

That’s just the Neopan stash, 505 roll's in total!

I got a tip off before Christmas that there was something up with Neopan, my contact said though that all Neopan 400 would be gone but as it turns out it was just the 120's. At least it gave me the opportunity to buy a few more brick's for the freezer.

Nice stash!!!!

apparently Neopan 400 in 120 is getting discontinued because of enviromental issues.

This is very very sad news.

Yesterday (April 28, 2010) I included another 20 rolls of 120 Neopan 400 in my B&H order. The price has gone up to US$3.49

I got an e-mail today saying it had shipped.
