Yes, the flower planter on the side of the tree is an old urinal! The owner of the yard on Elmhurst Drive in Fort Wayne hung the urinal there to spite his neighbors after they called the city's Neighborhood Code Enforcement office on him for running a business from his home. He may not like the city government or his neighbors, but the American flag on the urinal shows he is still proud to be an American!

Well, I have seen American flags sewn onto the butts of blue jeans, so you must be right.

I have too. I think the people who wear those pants think they're being patriotic, but it seems disrespectful to me. If I wanted to show off my love of country through clothes, the flag wouldn't be on my butt!

Wouldn't place a flag on a urinal to show patriotism either... :)

By the way, what is written on the sign above the urinal?

Dear Chris,

Are you taking the p*ss?

(Sorry: couldn't resist. Not sure if it make sense in American anyway: in English it's a more emphatic version of "taking the mickey". )

In one of the Southern states I saw an old WC in the centre of a front lawn, being used as a planter. Alas, lacking your sense of irony, I didn't photograph it.

Cheers,

R. (Mutt)

Yes, I think the juxtaposition of 'Old Glory' and the piss-pot might be a political statement by the gardener.
