The results are impressive but, and I feel like a grumpy old git saying it, they're a bit twee for my taste.

Very novel. The detail work in the sets and wardrobe is impressive. His daughter is quite amazing for a five year old. Brilliant stuff.

I'm a bit conflicted. The model is a beautiful child and the photography is very well done. I'm certain a fair amount of work and creative thought went into each one. They seem to be extremely well done.
However, and there had to be a however, I feel uncomfortable with the relationship between the original masterpieces and the fauxtography.

Like the photorealist paintings of the 1970s except the other way round. Somehow they just don't hit the spot for me.

I'm with Simon, Sejanus.Aelianus et al. NOT "a very interesting take on portraiture"... twee and pointless.
Other photographers refer to art history with much more to say about the people they portray and our world.
Take Hendrik Kerstens, who photographed his daughter growing up http://www.danzigergallery.com/artists/hendrik-kerstens or Tom Hunter http://whitecube.com/exhibitions/tom_hunter_life_and_death_in_hackney_duke_street_2000/
And dare I say it me (though not portraits): http://www.richcutler.co.uk/photography/fast/

Brilliantly executed and very funny. I really can't see why anyone would have a problem with the concept, either. Hard to believe he can do each one in 8 hours.

MORE to say? Complete lack of playfulness: generic glum shots.. . . Other photographers refer to art history with much more to say about the people they portray and our world.
Take Hendrik Kerstens, who photographed his daughter growing up . .. .
