The last few weeks I've been using a Sonnar fitted inside a J-3 shell adapted by Brian. It's actually FrankS' old Contax lens, there is an earlier thread with some of Brian's pictures.

Since seeing the first rolls shot with this lens I've been trying to convince myself that gluing the Sonnar to my M would be a bad idea...

The contrast is a tad lower than my other lenses. I'll attribute part of it to the glass not having any coating. Still after 3 weeks of shooting with this lens I've only managed to get obvious lens flare once. And that was only by sticking the front element into the path of sunlight. Not bad for an uncoated lens. The images it produce are great, by far my favorite lens. Since the lens went on the camera it hasn't come off. There are plenty of negatives shot with this lens, and plenty more to be made.

The pictures look good! The Uncoated Sonnar 5cm F1.5's are amazing. The conversion to LTM using a J-3 module is simple. I've also picked up a Summarit-M focus mount, and will give that a try.

All you need is another camera, Darren. Leave this gem on one camera permenantly.

It's definitely my workhorse lens for the foreseeable future. These Sonnars sure make you thirsty, for more Sonnars...

Mike, I think I can make it up for the shoot.

Brian, I'm curious what makes the Summarit a possible candidate for adapting Sonnars? Do you think post war glass will fit in them as well?

The Summarit focus mount has a relatively large diameter. I'm thinking of mounting a variable stand-off ring at the bottom of the mount and trying a pre-war Sonnar in it. Nice rainy day project. But today was spent helping Nikki with a 5th grade Science Fair Project. And I did let her make all the stuff for it...

Brian,
You have your priorities straight. What is more important than a daughter?
