A word about the forums growth and members

Thank you Jorge and Joe from an appreciative brit. As I am not a prolific poster I do'nt get my fingers burnt too often but its nice to have somewhere to lurk and soak up the ambiance of RF cameras. Keep up the good work!

Regards,

normclarke.

RFF has become just like a big, extended family: sometimes everybody gets along, sometimes they don't. And when they don't, look out.... it can get nasty. But family still, nonetheless.

A big dysfunctional family is fine, actually a very good description, but we have to do better with the occasional nastiness.

I am not trying to pour cold water on this thread, just trying to push to make the place even better.

well I am glad all the grief was after my bedtime. Jorge thanks for the site and GOOD LUCK on finding another moderator or two...any more JOEs out there?

i think we have 'found' a couple of volunteers.

in fact i think we had to turn down a couple also.

i think jorge is going to contact the 2 new mods to be, just to confirm and then we will 'introduce' them to you.

A big Thank You goes out to the dynamic duo who have worked so well, to keep the site functioning.
( i find it wonderful to have a place to learn from others.)
A big thanks to the future mods. for taking time that will keep the site "safe" to all.
After all - we are all guests here, act as if you are visiting someone's home. (think first)
(we should all try to send out a little reminder such as "thats not nice" if we come across a thread that seem to stray)
While I am fairly "new" here, I plan to Stay. (and do my best to never push a thread in the wrong direction, if we all do a little, the mods wont have to do "so much".
Great job.

Great place...

Great place...

There aren't many places like this...with enough members to keep things interesting...without the usual nastiness.
People invest so much of themselves in to their gear and their skills that any question regarding the accuracy of their perceptions is seen as a direct personal attack. How that can be avoided in the long run, I don't know.
In the (relatively short) time that I've been here, I've only seen one (recent) example of a real lack of civility.
Overall though, if I did not own a rangefinder camera, I'd go out and buy one just to have a good excuse to hang out with a fine bunch of knowledgeable and friendly folks.
Thanks guys, for a great job!

Jorge, I just have red your thread, and I can only say: thank's for this forum. Many questions are answered, foto contest prize(Zeiiiiiis Ikon) is amazing even for somebody with much more money in pocket than me... I would like to thank's (again) all of you and specialy George S. for his great photo donation...If you agree next time I will write more about that. Only one thing, PLEASE don't do : ask money for using RFF. In that case I'm broke... All my conecctions with RFF friends are broken... I am saying again : Support me to keep on loving RF photography!
Best whishes from Bor, Serbia.

Many thanks for all the hard work and congrats on developing the culture within the forum, it is a testament to your own attitude and commitment.

Thanks again

I'd like to add my thanks and gratitude to Jorge and Joe for providing a site populated with intelligent members whose opinions are welcome and respected.

I missed the thread in question but have a feeling it precipitated the departure of someone whose opinions were lively, knowledgable and informative and with whom I had formed an enjoyable relationship through PMs. A great pity, if my suspicions are founded.

Thanks again for a great site

Thanks!

Thanks!

Great Site.
And the Forums seem to be much better than other sites.
Many posters, and best of all; Respect of others, genuine interest, and no unnescessary disputes with harsh language. Just great.

Bor in Serbia:

I don't think this will ever become a paid-members-only website, so rest easy. I don't think that is in the philosophical makeup of Jorge, Joe, and the other fine people who run this place.

Some of us might want to pay a bit extra for expanded photo KB's to help us upload photos to our galleries, but that is up to us, not a requirement.

And hey, Petar, your English is getting better all the time. How or where did you learn it?

(I used to be an English professor, but gave up my errant ways).

Ted
