A wrist strap for M6

I have my M6 on its way to me with Leica neck strap, but I thought a convenient wrist strap will make it more comfortable in actual usage.
What wrist straps are recommended for M6 ?
Not necesserily the most expensive one, but rather a reliabel and convenient.

hard to go wrong with one of gordy's wrist straps, i think they sell for 15 bucks, are hand made of good strong leather.

a bit more money will get you a luigi's strap of soft leather, simple but very elegant looking.

I agree with Joe, Gordy's straps are great, have one on my RD1, but you might also want to explore the use of Leicagoodie's "sling". I have one on my M6 and love it. I bought it as a temporary stopgap to try before buying a grip, but have grown so used to it I decided to stick with it. You can get information on the sling here. You might also want to check out their snob which when used with the sling provides grip-like functionality.

I have been using neck straps since day one, but ever since taking my 2 niccas out without them recently (to save space) I have been looking into wrist straps... I never really warmed up to them on my Rollei 35's, but I think that is because there is no way to tighten the slack on your wrist unless you leave the case attached (very awkward!). I always felt like if I didn't have it wrapped around my hand I was in danger of dropping the camera. Hopefully the elves got my subtle hint when I passed on the link to Gordy's site earlier this month :D I'd like to have the option of not taking a neck strap with me so I can pocket a camera if need be.

Joe your posts about Luigi's straps have had me visiting his site numerous times now! They look & sound great, so maybe if Gordy's work for me I might treat myself. I never thought I would ever own anything 'Luigi', but then again I never thought I'd have a Contax II either.

If function is the prime consideration, go with Gordy. I find it most satisfactory.

I have received my strap from Gordy and it´s great: strong, handmade (you can choose colors, take a look at his web) and it works perfect for 15$ only.
 
it's really hard to beat gordy for value and function.
i think the choice lies in what 'look' you want, gordy's straps are like the suv of straps while luigi's are more euro sport car, rugged vs elegant.
they both get you there though.

what's funny is i now am using one of luigi's long straps, like peter in his avatar pic, bandalero style. i think it may be the answer to cold hands cause i don't have to hold the camera between shots.
i had one made longer to go over my bigger gut and it's very comfortable. also, i don't have to use it around my neck which often triggers migraines for me. that's why i started using wrist straps in the first place.
 
I'm going with Gordy's, as soon as I can decide what color.
I had an opportunity to talk with him for a while, and see his straps- they are well made, lots of options, and very strong- and Gordy is a great guy to boot.

It's the only way to use a neck strap imho... Even the lightest camera feels awkward hanging straight from my neck. Having the camera at your side is also very helpful when you want to disguise it or protect it with your arm. When I'm out & about I often have my safrotto 803 clone slung over my head/shoulder first & then the camera. When I'm not shooting it sits nicely on top of the bag at my side ready for use.

Get the leicagoodies.com (new owner) sling, hook and strap and don't look back. They can't be beaten as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, I think Magus is right here. As much as I like wrist straps (and use a couple different styles), I really only consider them as a backup in case the camera slips out of my hand. I particularly like the Luigi half case with built in grip to carry my camera around with. That, combined with a wrist strap, allows me to hold the camera in my hand while walking normally yet still have the assurance that the camera won't likely slip out of my hand due to the built in grip and even if it does, or I get bumped thus causing the camera to slip, or god forbid someone should try to grab it and run, the wrist strap is still there connecting me to the camera.

If the strap is only 24" like it says on their site I probably couldn't look back. My neck is 17 1/2"! I like the idea but a strap worn "obliquely across the chest" would have to be about 60" long to hang at my hip. How tall are you and where does the camera fall at your side? What is the correct length? Do they mean 48" total? That plus a couple of inches for the hook and ring would still put it too high for my liking. I would prefer to be able to have my arm down and relaxed while holding the camera at my side (top of thigh), not raised up like I'm ready for a showdown. I wonder if they could do a custom length?

I use a gordy's neck strap, and wrap around my hand to act as an impromptu wrist strap - depending on how I want to shoot. Great value, and good looking to boot.

Only thing to watch out for - don't wear a white shirt with his black strap at first - the dye will rub out on the cloth. I have several dress shirts that make me look like I was attacked by a sharpie. :D
