I just came home from another business trip, and I decided to take the rest of the day off (I woke up at 5am EST, and arrived back home at 11:40 PST). I was thinking about my many business trips that I've taken this year, and I thought I would put together a gallery. But when I started doing it, I realized what a year I've had with the s90. I first got it in November of 2009, and here we are almost exactly one year later; and looking back, it's amazing to me how busy I've been.

I've posted many of these before, some I've never posted anywhere before.

The first time I really got to use the s90 was in early November 2009 in Baltimore. It was wet, cold, and pretty miserable.

Most of the photos taken that month were to keep track of my "Noshavember" progress. But I did take time out during Thanksgiving to go to Sedona and the Grand Canyon. Unbeknownst to me, I had somehow managed to set the s90 to save lower res images during this trip. So unfortunately I can't make any big enlargements of these. Has anyone else ever done that?

No photo could ever do the Grand Canyon any justice at all. You need to see it for yourself. A week later I had to go out to Phoenix to help my dad with a property he bought on the cheap. We went to a hockey game. Maybe the Coyotes would have better crowds if they didn't have such obnoxious fans.

I guess the same can be said for any sports team anywhere. The Sens lost.

Christmas soon came and my then-fiancee and I went to Victoria BC. Christmas is always a great time to photograph family.

Grandma clearly disapproves of Fozzie being on the sofa.

I went to Florida on a business trip in early January. It was freezing cold, and there was nothing to see. Getting back home to southern California felt good.

I think I went to Vegas for business around this time. I can't specifically remember when. I do know some blue men were there.

In early March I again had to go home to Canada. I needed to renew my TN status, and for that I need to leave the country. That gave me an opportunity to pick out tuxedoes for my wedding with my mom.

Weekend activities include going to petting zoos. But I wouldn't want to pet this guy.

Also in March I went on a huge business trip to Fort Worth. Somehow I lost all the photos I took with the s90. I have no idea where they are. This one survives, but only in web-sized format.

April and May were busy planning for my wedding. Of course, I could not take any photos of the wedding with the s90. I suspected a shutterbugging groom would be a surefire way to upset the bride. However, with my family in town we did manage to sneak away to Six Flags. It was fun.

The Honeymoon! I've posted these Hawaii photos before, but I will again. It did a marvelous job along with the underwater housing. This is what the s90 is all about: great quality images in a small package so you don't have to worry about gear and lenses, and you can get on with having a good time wherever you are.

More from the Honeymoon. This first shot may be one of my faves. Kauai is such a breathtaking place.

Another momentous event in the year was the adoption of our pet cat, Chloe. here she is minutes after arriving home, apprehensive and wary of her new surroundings.

She soon learned to relax however.

Another big business trip was the big convention in Boston. I did get a little bit of time to walk around, but it's very difficult to be a tourist after you've had a day of work.

I think I went to Vegas twice during the summer. Difficult to remember.

The days started to grow shorter in September. My wife went back to school, and soon had assignments. Luckily I can tag along for some of them.

Finally, here are a couple of photos from the trip from which I just returned. It's funny that it's so close to where I started from in Baltimore.

Good work, s90. I've had a tremendous year with you.

Nice, Darkhorse, especially like the last couple. I've been fighting GAS for an s90 or s95, this doesn't help )

great stuff!

great stuff!

The picture of the cleaning guy in Washington is amazing. Great work. The s90 is sure a capable little camera, but the photographer's talent is obvious in these images.

These little cameras are wonderful in the right hands. A bit of thinking which you seem to have mastered well and the results are great (your's fit that description).

Thanks for sharing.

I agree with the above. That last one is probably the best picture of the Lincoln Memorial I've ever seen!

Thanks all. I really like the last DC shots as well. Thank goodness I had it set to aperture priority for the silhouette shot.

Seems like a camera that I may need to have ... a great take everywhere camera.

Is it fair to say that all ISOs are represened here?

I lot of the gnashing of teeth that goes on about this camera and that really comes down to understanding about how the camera works and how to control it in order to get the results from it you want.

There needs to be some basic understanding of technologies in photography that must be there. But at the end of the day it's how you learn to work with the camera, how you can translate your vision of what you see through the dials, film, menu, lens, what have you into your picture, be it digital or silver based.

Some folks here look at the label of P&S as a negative, I did too at first. But I've come to like it as it's broad enough to allow lots of different camera to take part. My old Bessa L with it's wonderful 25/4 Snap-Shot fit here as well as my GRD III (currently my main camera).

Again, great stuff.

The Baltimore street shot and the first kitten shot is at 800 I think. The underwater shots and the dusk telescope shot were at 250. The last two are 400.

Thanks DH. What I like is the dial around the lens which allows me to specify (among other things) lens length... which is something all P&S cameras with zooms should have. I generally hate zooms, but at its widest it is f/2 and at 35mm it's f/2.5, so that is like having primes at those lengths. Another is that the IQ seems great for a small sensor camera.

Cute cat by the way...

Darkhorse, lots of very good images in this post. The S90 is a very capable camera, and you obviously use it well. I have had mine for about 9 months,a nd really like it.

Great images Darkhorse. I also recently bought one of these great little cameras. Just learning how to use it but so far I have been very please with the results.

A nice set of photographs Darkhorse!

Indeed the S90 is a great little camera. I'd hated my G11 since getting it and it was a real tough decision getting another P&S while my current one did (admittedly) still make great photographs. But the S90 has exceeded my expectations and is with me all the time.
