A7r with RF glass

Some quick tests with the CV12mm Heliar M-mount and A7

Doesn't seem to be any visible red corners. This is at f5.6, iso 4000

Personally I'm happy with the f8 results, and f11 seems like differaction is already at work. Does anyone know how bad the corners of the CV12 are on film? I don't have a 12mm VF so I've never actually used mine on film...

Just getting this out of my system...But 12mm is WIDE! I'm not even sure I can trust the camera's electronic level, the slightest tilt in any direction and... 😀

I have the A7r and the X-Pro1; I used the OM-D about half a year and sold it. If Olympus is too much like a computer for you, then you probably will not like the Sony. It seems much more like a computer to me than the OM-D, considering it has WiFi, NFC, and connects to the internet to download apps which integrate with Flickr and the like.

In fact, I downloaded some updates and tested out the Flickr app yesterday and it didn't work and crashed. I thought that app had bricked the camera, because I couldn't get the it to respond afterwards. I tried a new battery, with no luck so I tried to call Sony support. After being on hold for a couple of minutes, a fake CSR answered and immediately began telling me she could not hear me, said something about "the other line" and hung up. Of course the first time I kept yelling into the phone trying to make myself heard. Then I tried another phone and received the same pre-recorded message! Finally, I received a message that the system was down and gave up. I don't know if I was thrown into some test system or something (surely Sony doesn't intentionally try to trick customers into thinking their phone is broken to avoid calls), but it was not an awe inspiring experience!

Luckily, while I was trying to talk to the recording I plugged the camera into the wall and it eventually tried to "Connect to USB" and finally I could turn it on. Hopefully there will be instructions on how to do a cold reboot of the device soon.

Ugh. I'll only put up with crap like that if it makes my pre-asph 35 cron shine. My a7 should be here tomorrow. If it doesn't work out, I'm just gonna bite the bullet and get an M9.

I never read the A7r manual and certainly don't fiddle with the techie stuff. I turn it on focus and pull the trigger. An image results. Later I put the card into a computer.

I did configure two buttons. one to give me an extra spot for focus mag, and the other to turn focus peaking on/off.

Is there an option to save small RAW files on the A7/r ?
When shooting jobs for web only use I often save small files with the 5Dii.
It's very handy. I guess I could look it up but figured the info might be useful here to others.

I have no clue, i do know you can beam them to your phone or the internet, but i think that's jpg.

I use a very simple set of options and have a basic workflow.

I'm pleased to see that the 40 Rokkors show little vignetting / color shift at the edges. I'm hoping that my 40 Summicron will perform as well.

And the 35 Ultron V1 looks very clean in the 'end zones,' too.

Tim Ashley has tested a bunch of M lenses and concludes that almost all of them below 50mm show quite a bit of corner color shift in plain gray-card shots:

Most look pretty 'shifty' in his gallery. But then he includes one file corrected in the Beta version of Adobe's new correction plug-in (which is like Cornerfix), and it looks just about perfect!

The shots that don't have dark backgrounds are telling me the most about which lenses will perform well. I'm assuming all are uncropped and hope they're at widest aperture.
