How is the operation and performance of the 35 Summilux ASPH on the a7r? I assume you are using the non-FLE lens. I am wanting to use this lens as my "only" lens on an a7r as my go to camera.

re 35 lux, go to the flickr original and ask the user
I asked him: how is it wide open? "just like on the M9, some vignetting but no color shift or smearing"

Well the cron 28's death (as usable on the A7r) appears exaggerated:
http://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1254258/6#11950437
see a comprehensive set with A7r:

includes brick walls etc.
The lens is totally usable with color correction on the A7r IMHO.

It seems to be incredible on the A7r. I'm not clear on the plain "asph". I do not think it is at the same level---but we will have to see.

Re 35/1.4 FE samples on A7R. At f1.4 a lot of vignetting. The question is, -- is this the same with the M9 and M240? I hear that Leica FW does a lot of tidying up to the vignetting. So what it like in RAW on the M9/M240 -- the same as the A7R?

Leica M-E, Leica Summilux-M 35mm FLE shot at f/1.4 ISO 640 1/30s DNG converted to JPG in LR 5.3. Auto WB. Nothing else was done to this image. No Cornerfix, no vignette removal.
So you decide how much work you're willing to do in post process to get the most from your Leica glass. If shooting stopped down at f5.6 is good enough for you with a $5,000 lens that's been designed to shoot at all of its aperture settings then go for it.

heres what i'm thinking from what ive seen here: there are two issues, the first is do these lenses perform without issues like vignetting, color or focus shift etc. ok, so alot seem to be fine or easily fixed, like the 35 biogon above. but the second issue is are we getting stunning or kind of average results. now maybe its the samples, maybe its the downsizing for the web or some such thing, but with very few exceptions, i am not seeing anything approaching stunning on this thread. again, i'm not necessarily drawing a hard conclusion from that, but at some point i will. am i alone?

No stunning photography in a thread full of test shots? I'm shocked.
Opinion on the camera runs the gamut, most of it is just distracting.
We each have our expectations. Look and measure.
For myself, I don't expect to have a real opinion on the camera for months or longer. I hope it's here in a week
I don't regret my pre-order. But I don't have a FF digital camera.
Leicas have been too pricey for me and Canikon too big.

I think it's because of the OOC jpegs provided by early testers. RAW support is slowly rolling out, and I can't imagine people working on test shots as extensively as they do with portfolio works.
Once decent ACR support is there and we see these cameras being used by better photographers, I bet we'll see many more stunning shots.
FYI I have extensively worked with an M8 and M9 and the result, without careful post processing, is nowhere near "stunning".
