I love the draw of a Mandler-era lens in the morning. The Noct v2 looks a bit like this on the NEX-7, and so does the 90mm cron e55.

STOP IT!!! This is just cruel! I just ordered a D800E and cannot afford an A7R right now. But of all the A7R you've posted (and seriously -- a HUGE THANK YOU!) the ones with the Sonnar are my favorite. Thanks Charlie.

It reads there is edge smearing until stopped down to f/11. That's rather disappointing.

That's what most anticipated, frankly. The very small WAs 28 and wider are iffy on the edges, though it does vary.
The surprise is that the f/11 shots don't look like the normal diffracted F/11, they retain good sharpness.
Basically below 35mm you have to be very picky if you want reliable edges above f/8.
Speculation is that the glass above the sensor is not as thin as we'd prefer.
I have high hopes for my v3 28 elmarit though

Also, does anyone know if its safe to use the 50/2.0 DR, and 50/2.8 elmar collapsible. And is it safe to collapse the lense into the A7R body? or will it hit the sensor or camera internals?

Absolutely. But it is still a bad outcome. Some of the problems you can deal with, loss of detail is a bigger problem. That's what most anticipated, frankly. The very small WAs 28 and wider are iffy on the edges, though it does vary.
Of course, we are still only reading a comment here. I am waiting for a thorough test.

Just to be fair I think OP has credited every photo he posted...Please delete only the replies that have no credit attached.
