A7r with RF glass

Another lens that maybe nobody has tried yet?

This is a 1950s 8.5 cm f2 Nikkor RF lens on A7.
I used an Amadeo S to M adapter, then a Voigtlander M to E adapter. The whole thing was a bit wobbly – but with focus magnification, focus was always right on.
F2.8,with focus on near edge of blue gate.
It's equally sharp all the way to the corners – no smearing, no color shift.
By 'equally' sharp, I mean it's as sharp at wide apertures as a 50s lens could ever be, with a sort of 'classic' look. If you like this &/or have Nikon S gear, this one is worth trying.

Thank you! I own an 8.5cm Nikkor in LTM. A very nice lens indeed. Of course it is too big and too heavy and the ergonomics are too wretched for any right thinking RF shooter. I don't mind. The Pentax 6x7 Beast always reminds me that RF gear is neither big nor heavy. Relatively speaking.
I will have to reevaluate my current 3 lenses in 85mm or 90mm. If I get an A7 or A7r, I will keep the Nikkor. At least one of the two Elmarits will have to go.
Pondering.

ps: As for 1950s lenses being sharp. Yes indeed they are! By any measuring criteria.

I've tested the Nikkor-H 85/1.8 (approximately 1969 vintage Nikon F SLR lens) on the A7. It does a splendid job. Yes, it's large and heavy.

I find the 35 Summarit-M 'OK' but nothing more. By f11 is pretty sharp in the corners but that's too late for me. The CV 35 1.2 II is stunning. By f5.6 it has overtaken the 35 Sonnar and by f8 it is essentially perfect.

The 24 Summilux asph is OK at f5.6 and great at f8, right into the corners.

My inventory is:
Nikkor-P 8.5cm, LTM
Elmarit 90/2.8 M mount, first version.
Elmarit-M 90/2.8 M mount, last version.
I made a few hasty exposures with the Elmarit-M 90mm on an A7r body recently. Operator errors aside, I was impressed by the performance wide open.

These are large and heavy...The Beast & Bigfoot.

...or my Zone VI field camera and 180mm/f-5.6 Nikkor lens.

Go big or go home.

Still pondering & minding my pennies.
