Mods, I beseech you: sometimes you just want to agree with somebody by quoting them. Or, if you want to be excessively verbose about it, adding "+1". And sometimes all you want to write, in response to something, is:

yeah!
right on!
DUH
I dunno
Sweet!
groovy
boo hiss
lolz,

etc. Or perhaps you want to start a thread entitled "Leica M5: best camera EVAR" and your first post could be:

discuss

I want to suggest that brevity is a valid expressive choice, and that we should be freed from the tyranny of the 10-character minimum. Huzzah!

add some space and then .

works for me.

and this is something the owner only can change, not the mods.

we enforce the rules we don't make them.

mabelsound,

Full stop, 8 spaces, full stop - and the content management system must have got rid of the extraneous spaces.

I'm all for brevity. It can be annoying when someone quotes a post complete with four or five photos just to say "nice." Makes it confusing to navigate.

I am behind the move for authentic brevity, and way from space-bar created brevity. That is merely brevity falsely so-called.

Did not John Donne write that 'brevity is the soul of wit'? More wit is desirable here at RFF ;)

Not really. :)

The 8 spaces are still there in the source code, but the browser renders them as a single space, which is standard practice. I should know this, because I code html by hand (nothing whizzy) as part of my job (nothing whizzy, either), but I'm retentive about not having double spaces in my code, so I'd forgotten how the browser behaves.

edit ¦ definitely agree about searching for focal lengths

Why not? space, space, space, space, period.

But what about this annoying "feature":
