About selling Leicas...

On the assumption that they are more or less contemporary, and that neither are very special in some way, would you sell body and lens separately or together?

Generally, you'll get more money selling separately, but it's a bit more hassle of course.

I agree with the g man..... except if its an original set. I have a IIIc, Elmar, Sharkskin kit with the original leather presentation box that was sold as a set in the 40's. Of course all the numbers line up. I have the original receipt also. THis would sell better as a kit.

It's more important to get your description right. If you are selling a nickle Elmar it may not make much, or possibly any, more with the body attached. But it definitely won't make half as much if you don't specify that's what it is.

Always sell seperately unless it's a kit or special edition. Any other way, and you are wasting potential earnings.

but it is sad to see nice kits split up for sale, people now even sell original fit hoods and lens caps separately just to make a buck
