Accepting older digital DSLR compromises ?

It's not that at all...and I think you know that. It's about new technology allowing you to get the photographs, handheld, that in the past would have taken a tripod to achieve.

Hi,

Hmmm, well, I've handheld for half a second at f/2 or whatever the slowest speed on a Leica is. But as I get older I can only manage a quarter second. The trick is in the breathing; like pistol shooting. I used to do a lot of pistol shooting but can't for various reasons these days. Or rather, I'm not allowed to these days...

Regards, David

PS But some of the fancy tricks digital cameras do include face recognition. I doubt if any one needs that as babies manage it at a few days old...

I get that... and that's great (I'm truly jealous). That works for objects that don't move. I have a tremor in my hands, so I appreciate the high ISO abilities (leading to a decent shutter speed) when I'm out on the streets and the sun is going / went down.

Thanks everyone .
I am fine with the A290 - i had a Minolta 404 si and it is a simlar size and handling which is probably why I like it so much .
I am fortunate to have a Leica M8 with older CV 35 f3.5 which gives my great quality - especially in monochrome .
