I have a chrome Canon 50mm f1.8 rangefinder lens LTM in excellent cosmetic condition. There is slight edge fungus on the rear of the front element. I can't work out how to access the front element to clean it. Everything on the interweb shows rear elements and the newer black 50mm lenses. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Michael

I haven’t tried to take apart a chrome Canon 50/1.8, but I’m assuming it’s like other Canon LTM lenses I’ve worked on. You’re going to have to remove the front trim ring. If you’re lucky, it will have spanner slots and will easily unscrew. If there aren’t any spanner slots, you’ll have to use a friction tool (like rubber drain stopper) to loosen the ring. Once off, you should have access to a retaining ring that holds the front element.
