For those with the Oly E-P2 and adapted non-CPU like Leica M lenses, How does one go about turning on the magnified focusing aid? I'd like to use it for slower wide angle lenses like my ZM 21/4.5 or CV 15/4.5. Engages automatically on their naitive CPU lenses, but how do you do it with adapted lenses?

Press the display button until you get the green square at the center of the rear LCD screen. Then press the OK button to magnify the image. Focus manually. Press the shutter button. Presto!

It's actually the "info" button you press to bring up the green magnifier frame. Same concept, different name.
Too bad the new firmware didn't address its usability though.
Maybe we'll all have to invest in the E-P3 to get it.

Got it. Thanks all.

It would be very easy for Oly to allow the fn button to access the magnified view in all info modes, if desired...I would vastly prefer this method...

Practically speaking, the E-P2 is normally sold as a kit with the 14-42 and VF-2, so my 15/4.5 and 21/4.5 are not likely to be used due to edge smear of the image with these non-telecentric designed lenses. They also have a much longer minimum focus than what comes with the 14-42. However, lenses like my 35/2 or longer do quite well and snap into focus without always needing the focusing aid.

I was hoping that Oly would implement a simple tap of the shutter release as a way of exiting magnified focus assist in manual mode on the E-P2. Awkward to have to push the OK button a second time to exit.

That's what's so cool about the E-PL1. Oly got it right on this body. Press the "magnify" button twice to zoom in. (First press lets you change the zoom range from 7x to 10x t0 14x if you want by pressing Info button, but pretty much leave it at 7x and just tap the Magnify button twice.). Focus, then press the "zoom out" button right next to the "magnify" button and shoot the picture. It's nice that the buttons are dedicated to this, and it's nice that the buttons are located in a much more ergonomic location that either the OK or Info buttons. Very natural. It's weird that Oly made the E-PL1 for amateurs but gave it better ergonomics for legacy lens users than the EP1/2 models. I've also got the Function button programmed to shoot in a My Mode ISO 800, black & white, 3:2 ratio - Tri-X at the touch of a button!

It is indeed too bad this hasn't been implemented on the E-P2. But I hope that, when Oly puts out a "pro" body with built-in EVF (I can dream), this functionality will carry over.
