I found an 85/1.5 at a garage sale. Included inside the lens case is an accessory finder which doesn't fit on either of my SPs (not lining up withthe viewfinder). Does anyone know if this is for the S2? I can't find it on the Mir site or Kevin's Cameras.
Thanks.

think that this is for the s , it is either a diopter adjustment or an rf magnifier i can not remember which . it would work with the nikon 1 , m or s .
at any rate it is a fairly rare item and worth quite a bit .
i will look it up and try to post again .

Wow, where do you go to your garage sales...
Yes indeed, that looks like it would fit on the older M/1/S viewfinder quite nicely. If I remember correctly the S2's finder is farther from the hot shoe (and a different size, that looks like it's for a smaller eyepiece)

it is in rotoloni s book complete nikon rangefinder system .
it is both a rangefinder magnifier and a diopter adjustment .
it magnifys the rf spot and finder from the 75% of the standard nikon s to life size . the back part turns to provide diopter range for different eyesight corrections .
it is fairly rare and not many are seen .
my guess is that the 85 / 1.5 was used on a nikon s and the magnified rf spot allowed more accurate focus , and perhaps provided an approximate field of view for the 85 lens .
pm me with your email address and i will try to send a copy of the specs in roberts book .
the only decent garage sale find i had were a 5cm f2 shade and a 5cm 1.4 shade . the f2 shade was in the box . thats in 35 years of looking .

enasniearth, I appreciate your research. I have Rotoloni's book in storage somewhere but thanks. And darn, I guess I will have to find an S body to use the finder with.
You can imagine my excitement when I saw that Nikon brown leather case at the bottom of a box of miscellaneous junk. My collection was lacking an 85mm lens.
