OK I'll aplogise for this question also being posted to the Leica group on P. net but I want as much feedback as I can get.

I bought a wonderful 1955 If RD from a Leica forum memeber last year and I have been using it as a zone focus camera with my 35mm f1.8 Canon black and chrome.

But I'm about to recieve a FOKOS accessory rangefinder to use with it. Now I fully understand how to use it having a number of various accessory rangefinders (all of the horizontal varity) for other cameras including my Voigtlander Vito II.

What I was wondering is since the main limitations of a in camera RF is the base leg being to short to effectively focus lenses in the 100-135mm focal range. Will the longer base leg of the FOKOS at approx 2.125" or 54mm apart (not sure if this is center to center or between the windows as I'm going by the sellers measurements. The windows on my Canon model III are approx 36mm. Sold off my other Leica screw mount bodies so I don't have a measurement for something like a IIIf or IIIg but as I remember it is very close to the Canons measurement.
Would this big increase (a factor of 1.5) of the base leg not make it easier to get a proper focus. I realise the advantage could easily be lost but the fact that it is an uncoupled RF and the tranfer of distance would not be percise.

I'm just hoping to be able to accuratly focus my 50mm f2.8 Elmar and hopefully my 9cm f4.0 Elmar using this RF on my little Leica.

Any thoughts or experiances?

By the way I have read back quite a few posts here and can't imagine how I missed this place!

I have a IIIf and have no trouble focussing a 135mm f4.5 Hektor. The lenses that you have are not extremely fast wide open so should also be easier to focus ie no shallow DOF critical focus problems as with an f1.4 lens. Look here for baselengths http://www.cameraquest.com/leica.htm.
