When I received my Fed-2 I noticed that the accessory shoe does not have a little tightening spring in it, like a Canonet QL17. Consequently, my clipon VC meter fit very loosely and would fall out of the shoe if I tipped the cam upwards.
I decided to add a shim and first tried cutting a piece of my Tri-X box to match. Having goofed on which film was in the cam last week, I thought it could serve double duty as a film reminder. The cardboard of the box, however, was too thick.
Next I tried cutting a shim from a 4x6" card (the kind you get at an office supply store for writing notes on). Perfect fit! It keeps the VC meter nice and snug and I can write the film type and iso on it. I'll make up a set of these for the films I use.
