Acros 100 + Isolette III

Ok, I am still carrying this Isolette around!

I tried some Acros 100 the other day. What happened to my grain?!

I love that tombstone in the first photo. When I die I want my gravestone to have a morbid poem like that! I saw one in a book on the history of sculpture once that said: "Oh ye who reads with little care, who passes by and leaves me here: know that one you too shall die and be entomb'd as well as I"

LOL

Those poems on gravestones were once popular in New England in the puritan days.

He used Acros, a very, very fine grained film. I used it for this shot, with a 30 second exposure, in a Hasselblad a month or so ago. Great film for low light, because it has virtually no reciprocity failure. It is actually faster than Tri-X for low light, because Tri-X has such severe reciprocity failure at long exposures.

Thanks for the comments - as Chris said, Acros seems to have extremely fine grain, though at 100 it is very slow for this camera!

No filters or hood, but a good bit of dust cloning in PS!

I once had a fellow forum member tell me that you can't get a sharp image from a folder with triplet. He is quite an accomplished photog, too. To gdi: what do you think of the Apotar?

Acros and for me what's left of my supply of APX 100 on ice are the ticket for landscapes or architectural shots. I like the tonality in addition to the fine grain detail.

Kudos for posting these images. Also, I promise not to walk on the face of the dam.
 
gdi, nice shots from the triplet lens 🙂 do you like the swirly bokeh? I kinda like it in some photos, but also find it distracting on others.

Acros, got to get some to try it... wonder where...?

Solinar - I think I can live with the Apotar on this camera - Even wide open it seems decently sharp. I went to pick up some more Acros today anf the shop had sold out of 120!

Shadowfox - I'm not real keen on the boke of the lens either - reminds me too much of a Noctilux 😉 ! But, it is what it is and sometimes it is cool to be weird, IMHO. Not a folder, but even more weird - - http://www.tunachaser.com/modules/pnCPG/coppermine/albums/userpics/10001/095-1-2.jpg

That photo in your link has really interesting bokeh! What was it shot with? The little dots are distracting yet very beautiful around the old man's head.

No problem Bill. Acros is also very cheap compared to Ilford or Kodak films! I bought some at Calumet for $2.50 a roll (120 size) a while back and i think it still sells for that. I also got some Ilford FP4 at the same time and it was $4 a roll! I like FP4's tonality for normal lighting better than Acros, but Acros is superior in my opinion for low light, and it is still very good for normal daytime shots.
