Adapt Leica Telyt 1:4/200mm, M39, from the old Visoflex Leitz system to GFX100s?

Hello,

I will soon receive the Leica Telyt 1:4/200mm, M39, from the old Visoflex Leitz system.

1. What do I need to adapt this lens on the GFX100s?
2. I also own a Canon EOS EF to GFX adapter with AF even if I do not use AF with my Canon or Zeiss ZE lenses neither will use AF with this Leitz 4/200mm which is fully manual.

I seek for the simple and more affordable solution. Please suggest.

If there's no direct m39 visoflex to gfx adapters, you could use m-mount adapter with actual visoflex. Sounds cumbersome though

In theory there's no reason you couldn't use a regular LTM-to-GFX mount with a 39mm extension tube of the right length.

Leitz made one to use the Telyt directly on a screwmount Leica with a special viewfinder made for it: TZOON - Leica Wiki (English)

There's also a later one known as the TZFOO or 14023 if you want to stick with the official parts and can't find the TZOON, but that site notes the TZOON is 62.5 mm long, so you could just use a regular extension tube if you can find one that matches those dimensions.

I swear I thought of that kind of solution.
An LTM (M39)>GFX adapter does the job of connecting the two parts.

As the lens comes from the Visoflex system, there is a need to compensate for the 62.5mm distance. Couldn't this be resolved with a tube of that precise distance, as you suggest? I think so.

What if it's with a bellows like these?

Probably overkill for one lens but you might also look into the different size helicoids available on ebay and get a GFX lens mount for them. They are available in multiple diameters (m42, m65 etc..etc. ) and different lengths. Can be very handy when adapting really oddball lenses or when you want extra close focus ability. I've used them to adapt old shutter/lens combos to mirrorless for example.

There is also the Leitz bellows, UXOOR, but I honestly can't remember how many variations there are and which are LTM at both ends. I know some definitely are not, but if you can find the LTM-to-LTM version, it'd very much simplify the whole setup instead of going with the Novoflex one.

You might it has a pretty hard vignette - my 135/4 Elmer creates a circular mage within the GFx sensor.

The telyt covers 6x6.
You can stack two adapters, for example visoflex m39 to mamiya 645 and mamiya 645 to GFX. I sold my telyt to a friend who did just that.

The Telyts of this age came in two versions, one for R and one for Visoflex, just the back tube is different. Before now I have bought one and it turned out to be the wrong one...

I did exactly that with the 400/6.3 Telyt. Saw one going cheap in an auction - the opening bid was £100, and when no one bid, the auctioneer dropped it to £50.

Then no one bid for £50... so he dropped it to £30.

You better believe I jumped in at that point. I was mildly annoyed to find it was a Telyt-R... but with an R mount to Fuji X adapter, I had a pretty incredible long lens for bird photography for next to nothing. That's a rare win for me.

Mine was a 560. To be honest I will admit that once I had things sorted out (by buying an SLMOT) I really had no use for the thing.

At least the pistol grip had a huge red dot on it!
