Adapter for G Biogon 21mm F/2.8?

Does anyone know if there is an adaptor to enable you to use the Contax G Biogon 21mm F/2.8 on an M mount camera (R-D1)? If so does it have any down sides (e.g. no rangefinder coupling) if used like this.

There seems to be some very good deals on secondhand examples of thiis lens in the U.K. at the moment and it has an excellent reputation.

Could you please publish details on those deals, please? I'm looking for a 21mm (in black) for my G2!

There are a couple companies that are taking the 16mm and some 21mm G system lenses and mounting them in M/LTM, but the conversion isn't cheap (last heard, around $300).

Of course, if that G glass was available for my Leica, I'd probably have a rougher time rationalizing the G...

I expect that given Englands prices in general for cameras that by U.S. standards they will not be that cheap. About £400 (about $750) for a Mint example with viewfinder & box from a dealer. That still a lot cheaper than a S/H Leica 21mm Asph at about £1,200.

I don't know about the 21mm, but the 28mm cam be modifided in Japan soo it fits on a Leica M.

I had the 16 Hologon modified for M by Photography on Bald Mountain, back when this lens first came out (? 1995). It is not RF coupled in either mount, but no matter. The 21 Biogon G is, I think, not enough retrofocus to mount on an R-D1 despite any adapter. If it actually fits, it will vignette terribly. I myself am waiting for the new Zeiss Ikon 21 Biogon for that reason.

Thanks Ed. I have also been looking at the Zeiss 21 and 24 but proposed listed U.K. prices are high so i thought this might offer an alternative. I'll have to see what the street price works out at Hasselblad said they (may) be available in April.

The officel price for the 21mm Zeiss is 120.000 Yen in Japan, and the price for the 25mm is 105,000 Yen. I could imagen that the street prices will be something like 98,000 Yen and 75,000 Yen.
