Can you mount M39 screw mount lenses like the Industar and Jupiter lenses on a M body? Or do you need an adapter?
 
Yes. M's have a bayonet lens mount. The adapters are easy to find. Both original, used, Leica versions and new and used copies are readily available. Cost varies tremendously. The cheapest copies seem to work as well as anything else.
