Hello!

Some cameras like the Canon 7 and Contax TVS are just great, but they lack an accesoiry shoe.

How would you add that feature?

I consider to buy a Contax TVS and would like to use external viewfinders with the camera but dont know how to connect them.

Regards
Tobi

For a solution that can be undone, spare cold shoes could be glued on with strong double sided tape. The professional and permanent solution would be to drill holes, cut threads and screw the cold shoe to the body - nice, when done right, but many DIY efforts effectively waste the camera (don't try it unless you know how to handle a drill press). In some cases the cameras have a top with not enough flat area to hold the shoe - there, you might have to fill the gap with self curing (epoxy) putty.

I tried this with a Leica D-lux 3 for a member of flickr some 2 or so years ago.
Trying to locate a photo, if one even exists.

I made a "riser" from ABS plastic, them poured a lighter copy from Alumilite resin.
Drill and tap for a generic cold shoe (found on ebay) them used epoxy resin the permanently attach it to the camera. It looked nice, but rendered the microphone useless.

Ide say go for it! Just be sure your confident in your addilites to do so, and also realize that even if you consider it to be an asset, others may see it as a farce. Plan to take a hit if you sell.
