adjusting a ltm/m adapter

Greetings,

I've recently gotten a generic 90mm adapter that doesn't quite seat on the body (tried on a couple) and therefore the 90 framelines fades in and out of view. What do I need to adjust/grind/sand on the adapter to get it to seat completely?

This is the best "how it works" for the frameline Cam that I have seen.

It is in regard to the 40mm Summicron to filedown to bring up the 50mm framelines.

But- I think the 90mm frameline problem is different. I believe the Cam must be built up for them to engage. Do the 90mm framelines come up before the adapter clicks into place? Does it lose them after that? Or is it that they "barely" come into view? If the latter, hold down the release and move the adapter "ever so slightly" beyond where it would click. Do the framelines come up then?

I am not sure of the exact mechanism, or tolerances. I had a 50mm adapter, Leitz, that did not engage the 50 lines. Turn slightly past, and it did.

Thanks for your response.
The adapter brings up the 90 framelines but, with focusing or a gentle prompting, moves slightly back so the framelines disappear. They do show when adapter clicks into place. (The adapter never clicks to indicate it's fully locked on the camera, though it is securely on.)

By "never clicks", do you mean the camera's tab to hold the adapter firmly in place does not go into the small slot? That would indicate the problem. The tab should go firmly in place on the small groove- might be the problem.

The slot/groove on the adapter looks to be larger (wider) than the one on the 50mm adapter. That may be where the slop comes from: the movement of the frame lines comes from the small movement of the adapter within the groove. I don't suppose there's anything one can do about that....

I can think of two things to try- file a portion of the notch a bit deeper, so the lock engages on it more firmly. Make sure to get the position correct for engaging the framelines, should be on the side that can be rotated the farthest.

Other thing- try some copper tape or something else to thicken the notch. Probably be tricky to get it to stay.

Don't think filing it deeper will address the issue. I'll try copper tape, though it doesn't look like there's much for it to stick to. Think I'm s*** out of luck with this one.
