Hi to all! I just got a used R3A off of the classifieds here, and noticed it's RF was off a bit vertically(from shipping). I searched here and found the information from many threads that put together I was able to adjust it myself. It really is a 5 minute affair to adjust the vertical RF patch on this camera! In a nutshell this is how you do it(all disclaimers apply...it's your camera so be careful):

1. Use a sewing pin to pry up the shield that covers the hot shoe plate(that way it does not scratch it). Going through the side of it seemed to work for me.

2. Use the approp. sized phillips screwdriver to remove the 4 screws that hold the hot shoe plate on - use a piece of tape to put the screw onto and label it so you know which hole it came from!

3. Looking down into the hotshoe, from the back to the front of the camera you see an open oval to the right of the hotshoe(see link for a photo I found).

4. The larger of the 3 screws that you can see through the lower right part of the oval(it looks to be spring loaded and sits higher than the others) is the one to adjust. Use a flat bladed screwdriver of the approp. size, and turn a little at a time then look through the eyepiece at very far, middle, and short distances(obviously you need a lens on the camera) to check when the alignment is good.

5. Button it up! This screw does not appear to need any lacquer to lock it down as it is spring loaded on my Grey R3A.

It is really easy. I did not do the horizontal adjustment as it was fine on my R3A. I hope this helps someone here who needs it, as you all have helped me with many items!

thank you very much for this, I might give it a try if the disalignment has any negative effects on my focusing ability (some more rolls will tell) 😉
