Adobe Gurus - publishing question

I am intrigued by a tack taken by Brooks Jensen, editor of Lenswork magazine. He put together a year-end gift CD with a number of his images laid out on a page . . . something simple with a key-line around it. Files were PDFs and could be read with Adobe Acrobat, arrows pointed from one image to the next.

Any idea with which Adobe product to tackle a project like this? Any idea how a general workflow might go? Save images as pdf's in photoshop and . . . then what? I have never really understood how the Adobe product line hangs together.

I realize this is an insanely general question. But, any pointers appreciated.

An alternative

As an alternative, I make up a slideshow and burn it to CD with MySlideshow - a powerful but simple program.

It will allow you to produce stand-alone auto running or manually controlled slideshow(s), a folder of the files and /or MPG video, etc, etc

ps JAlbum will produce similar in html (webpage) format, easily viewed in your browser

You can create excellent PDF's with OpenOffice and it's free:

If you know Word, you're well on your way to using OO Writer. You can embed your JPG's into a document and lay it out as you wish. This is particuarly nice package if you want to include some text with the photos.

As we're at OOorg, OpenOffice Impress ist pretty nice for someting like this, too.
You can save the presentation as a Shockwave Flash movie, with the help of another free and open software, Screenweaver 3, you can then create a SWF screensaver. Very cool!

Adobe Acrobat Pro has authoring capabilities. It's easy, for instance, to bring PS files into Acrobat, add buttons, navigation, movies, etc. And the result is a PDF file. That's a good idea for a presentation of images. Hmmm....

I use Acrobat to produce proof sets of my studio/weddings. I can send them for review and they can add comments, suggestions and make orders as long as they have the free reader. Of course if they want I can put on a CD but it precludes the comments. This has helped my business tremendously and saves a lot of time. I just email the pdf and they view and order
