Previous betas of Lightroom have been fantastic (if a bit slow), I suggest at least giving it a try.

There's a note up on Luminous Landscape that the Mac version may have a bug in the way it renders after a crop.

This is apparently only when cropping using an Intel-based Mac.it seems directly related to RAW development. Apparently TIFs that don't require debayering, don't suffer this problem
Yeah, my copy is a little slow when rendering, but worth it. Picasa, otoh, is nice and fast, but lacks some of the very helpful tuning panels found in Lightroom.
