Adox HR-50 - Post your Images!

In anticipation of the newly announced Leica Monopan 50 film available on August 21, 2025, it would be helpful for those of us using the “current Adox HR-50 film” to post our images here.

I was able to purchase 5 rolls of this film which has been generally accepted as the film being re-branded as Leica Monopan 50. There is a lot of evidence that supports this belief.

So, how does Adox HR-50 work for me in real life on the street?

Quite well, actually.🙂

I am delighted with my results so far, as these two examples show after a photo walk on a cloudy day in Newnan:

The film is a joy to use. It is thin, much different than other films I have been using, and it does not curl, making scanning much easier.

I just finished scanning and I’m just now beginning processing of the images… and yes, I am delighted with the scans. 👍👍👍

I've been shooting Adox HR-50 for a couple of years and I do agree with Dave's assessment. Very nice shots, Dave! I have developed mine in Adox XT-3 with 1+1 dilution, I'm quite happy with the results. Adox HR-50 is also sold in 100 ft bulk rolls, which is what I have used.

Good question! I too, have some EFKE 25 and 100 film as well as various slow AGFA films. I will try them out one day soon.

I am still using Legacy Pro 100 (expired 12 + years ago) and it works as well as Acros 100 II…🙂

This current fresh Adox HR-50 film is very good film. Now I understand why Leica (ostensibly) has chosen this as their new Monopan 50 film!

HR-50 in FX-39 1+14 (I think it's a sweet spot dillution, also for other films like Acros)

I think totally different, current Adox CHS 100 is based on Efke 50.

Efke 25 was an orthopan film - almost no red sensitivity, so almost the opposite of HR-50.

Yes, Efke 25 had limited, not extended red sensitivity.

I ordered 4 rolls ADOX HR-50 135-36, 1 roll Ferrania Orto 50 135-36, 1 roll Ferrania Orto 50 120.

I'm waiting for Ferrania P133 to come back into stock, that's one of my favorites of the past few years. 😉

Has anyone sent this film off to a lab to be processed? I’d like to try it, and, even though I have a Jobo 1500 tank and rolls, I find that I’m so out of practice with loading 35mm, that I’m happier sending film to The Darkroom in So. Cal, or Underdog Lab in Oakland.

Hmmm… go ahead and order a couple of rolls of film and let us know how The Darkroom does on processing your film. It would be good to know what developer they will use as well.👍👍👍

... Before I buy any 'special' developer, I'm going to test a roll doing my usual standard practice of HC-110 @ 1:49 dilution for 10 minutes at 68°F. That has worked fine for 99% of all my other film experiments... 😉
