Hello! i'm a newbie here wishing to greet you all G'day from Australia! I'm also a newbie in the rangefinder scene so i like some facts about getting an adapter for my zorki4k. I wish to by and m42 to m39 adapter so as i can put on a jupiter 85 m42 lens that i have, the question is if ther'll be any vignetting/tunnel vision or other trradeoffs as a result. Basic question i know, but your advice will be greatly appreciated!😀

You will lose rangefinder coupling with this adapter, i.e. you will not be able to focus the lens using the rangefinder in the camera. You will have to use the "guess how far away my subject is and manually set the lens for that distance" method. You are going to have to be a very good guesser with an 85mm lens. I would try a 28mm or shorter lens for the extra depth of field with this approach.

You need to make sure it's the right kind of adaptor - it must be an "extended" one, because the M42 screw mount has a longer lens mount to film distance. I believe there are some M42 to M39 adaptors designed to be used with bellows that do not extend the lens distance - these will not do. (And as Wayne says, focusing is not going to be easy).

thanks for that. But Wayne wouldn't i till have to resort to an viewfinder accessory anyway? Your thought lead me to think about changes to perspective for the viewfinder accessory. it'd be wrong wouldn't it?
