Advice needed on visoflex

Dear fellow RFF members,

This time the GAS has hit me bad.
There is a visoflex system for sale with:
- Visoflex system
- 200mm f4 lens
- 300mm f4,8 lens
for 550 US.

Now I love my M6TTL, but the one thing I miss are long focuss lenses.
This might well the solution for this. I would love to have a 300mm lens.
But it seems to be combersome to use this system, and it seems quite large and heavy.

- Does anyone of you has experience with the visoflex system?
- What do you think of this price?

Any information would be appreciated.

Mad_boy.

Well...

Well...

Hello:

Well, they work (i have and occasionally use a visoflex1) and the price with lenses, if in good condition, is not excessive. If you want to use exotic glass - kilars etc a visoflex is great investment as an entre to telephoto and macro work. Manual apertures and non return mirrors make for deliberate and slow exposures. Making a rapid working rf into a slow tripod mounted slr can be fun on occasion.

I have used the Visoflex system with 400 and 560 lenses a long time ago, about 15 years, for safari photography. I used the Novoflex focussing system and the combo was very good and usuable. However I changed it for Leica R gear and that was far more handy. So my conclusion is for nostalgic and incidental use: very usuable, but modern SLR-systems are a lot more practical. The price seems to me to be very reasonable.
