Hi to all...
I am writting this post in the hope some of you will help me or give me your kind advise.Eight months ago I bought a brand new Leica M7 entry set(comes together with the 50 summicron), a 35 cron ASPH and the 90-2.8 elmarit from Robert White(who I can only praise and recomend...).It had been a long time Life´s dream, and it came true....I looove the thing but the truth is...I hardly use it. And the problem is :Film.I moved in to live with my girlfriend and her little kid,and the house in which we all live simply won´t allow a darkroom.I am not very good at developing film, and doing it allways at night time when everybody sleeps in a simple bathroom has been fun for a while, but it is starting to get to my nerves...AND...I simply HATE scanning!!.So loving rangefinders so very much and not wanting to give them up at all I have come to the conclusion that the only choice for me right now is the Epson RD1-s.

So here it comes......: I want to sell my loved Leica. It is nearly un-used.Very little rolls of film have gone through this beauty as I tend to favour my Bronica RF 645 when confronted with shoting/developing/scanning film ( I love those Medium-format negs!!🙄 ).And my Canon 20D gets used nearly all of the time when it comes to professional work.Digital symply has to many advantages in my situation.. The 90 Elmarit remains un-used, I find this lense not very suitable for my shooting style(If I have a shooting style at all....😀 ).Keeping the 35 cron ASPH is a no brainer, as I know it will stay on the body 80-90% of the time and I love this lense.I tend to shot with the normal lense all of the time, only using wide from time to time. The 90 Elmarit is simply going. The 50 Cron is a mater of doubt right now.I have NO IDEA of what I can ask for the M7 Body in such a pristine state.I wonder If I would get a better offer selling it toghether with the 50 Cron as the entry set it is.How much would it be reasonable to ask for the 90 Elmarit.I am a bit lost with the second hand market, and though I know some of you will answer that it is difficult to put a price to other people´s equipment, i would value your honest opinion.Maybe I will go for a 28 Ultron and eventually for a 50 Nokton if I find I need any fast-longer lense.Knowing what some of you would do in my position will result of great interest.

Of course if anybody is interested in the machine I can send pictures and am willing to negotiate(I just would´nt want to loose to much money...:bang: )

In the wait for your kind responses,I wish you all the best.

Erik.

I think $1000 is a good price and I would be willing to take it off of your hands 🙂

Seriously, I'm sure others will chime in, but the used M7's I've been looking at the last couple days were around $2200-2500.

It sounds like to me you are a good match for the M8.

Why not sell the M7 and 90 Elmarit, if you must, and wait for the M8?

Before selling the M7, have you tried Kodak BW400CN or Ilford XP2 Super and scans with the processing? I'm doing that now and love the BW400CN. My first roll of XP2 super is in the camera now for a comparison test with the Kodak film.

You could

You could

probably sell the starter set with the 50 cron for close to $3k (USA) - I know they are $4300 new, which is what i paid a couple months ago for mine (USA) - You would be losing a chunk of change but if you sold the body only, I have seen them going as low as $1900 on ebay recently. Many people will be selling them to fund an M8 which is right around the corner.

I love my M7, I love film and right now I just have my local drug store process the negs. Costs $2 and I scan what I want at home. Im taking a class now to learn how to process my own negs, so will give that a try as well.

Sounds to me like you could use an RD1s or an M8, and the Rd1 is a GREAT little solid camera. I had one and regret ever selling it.

Good luck.

A 30 second GOOGLE/PriceGrabber search just told me...

No way I would trade an M7 and MORE of my cash for a new R-D1s. Buying a used R-D1 isn't much better.

The most recent ebay sales of the M7 and R-D1 are as follows:

M7 New/Unused: $2,200 (This sounds like the condition of your M7)
R-D1 used: $2,000

Maybe I'm crazy, but that's my opinion. It is worth exactly what it cost you.

Think about this some more.

Actually just emailed a seller about his M6 .85 and looked in his feedback. I remember because I think I bid on it, or thought about it... but he had a m7 go for about $1750.

I'm tempted to sell my pair of m3's, my m6 and my Nikon stuff and get a pair or M8. I'm sick to death of carrying all that gear around at weddings.
