Hi All,

I am new to this and have the chance to buy a Mamiya 7II with the 65mm lens.

The camera is in e+ condition, however, it is from a private seller (not on forum or ebay). I can test the camera in person.

My question is, short of runing a roll through the camera, are there things I shoud check specifically if I decide to purchase?

Also, assuming the camera was purchased new within the last 5 years, and everything works as it should, can you give me fair market value est. for the camera.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Kevin

body alone in Ex+ condition is around 1100 - 1300. 65mm lens used, in mint condition's around 6-700$ with hood.

Main thing to check is winder - does it wind on smoothly and is the rangefinder aligned. When checking the rangefinder make sure your eye is centred. Check infinity focus and check medium and close distance using the distance scale on the lens.

If you're not running a roll through you have to do all the checks with the back popped open otherwise the camera will prevent shutter actuation.

Make sure you check the dark slide mechanism (base of camera).

I'll echo Benny's comment: Check the dark slide mechanism.

Kevin,
If you can check it in person why NOT run a roll of film (120 not 220) through? That will let you check film loading, dark slide mechanism, focus, shutter speeds, as others have mentioned. I'm about to sell my M7II to be order to get a R-D1s which is a shame because it's a fabulous camera. I don't use 220 in mine because winding on seems to get difficult - so I would check that out, and the RF alignment. Other than it it's a solid, well-built camera which I haven't heard there are many problems with as long as it's been looked after properly.

Bernard.
