An idea for tinkering, this one.
I have some Minolta X-700 SLR's, of which one does not focus properly anymore. Since these are abundant and cheap nowadays I was thinking about operating one, finding out where the AE lock switch is inplanted and replicate that on the CLE.
Since the electronics are similar it should be possible.

Am I crazy?

cheers, Rob.

I have an x500 and a CLE and i wish the CLE had same great AE lock button the X500 does... wish i had the knowhow to rig something up, but if i tried they would both be relagated to parts cameras.

Sounds like a fun idea. The lack of AE lock is one of the drawbacks of using the CLE. I don't know that I'd risk damaging a perfectly good CLE to try it, though. I get-by pretty good without AE lock. Good luck, Rob.

After a good night's sleep:

I guess the place to make the switch could be found, I am afraid it will be somewhere on a circuit board. Then it will be nearly impossible.
After all, if it would be easy they would have made it in the first place I guess.

I will have to think about this one...

Anyone knows about a circuit diagram of the CLE?

Rob.

Talk to palaeoboy (Joel Matherson), he knows an awful lot about the CLE.

Well, operating on the X700 revealed it is not even easy to locate the electronics or the switch itself in there, let alone removing it to build into a CLE.
I think I will live without AE lock on the CLE: I will just use the Hexar instead when AE lock is needed!
