AF Improvements X-E2, X100S over the previous gen

Absolute sharpness and resolution is not my problem .. the 12MP of the X100 were good enough for me. I don't want to print huge blow ups of my son.

The D600 oily sensor thing is a non issue, they replace the shutter free of charge. In fact most used cameras come already fixed with the papers and all.
A D600 + 35/2 used should be a little over 900€ if you are looking (and the lens has a aperture ring too)
A a6000 + 24/1.8 used 1100€
A X-E2 + 23/1.4 used somewhere around 1200€

Seeing that I need to get a newer body and lens to get reasonable AF from Fuji I might as well jump ship.

Will see what happens, I've no time to do that before christmas anyway. maybe I'll look for a body on eBay that ends 24th/25th stuff gets real cheep on that days.

if anyone is interested .. I went back to a X100 and shooting my son with the iphone6 mostly - the x100 for shooting friends (my friends are all 30+ and move slow enough 😀 )
I can't say what it is but I find the output of the X100 12mp sensor very appealing
I also tried a M9 briefly but decided that my needs for digital aren't justifying 2k€+ (although that thing puts serious stuff on SD cards, I shot mostly with my Zeiss50/1.5 - instant magic!)

Glad you worked it all out, I had a X-E1 as well and thought the auto focus
was slow in that as well so, I sold it and purchased a Leica M8. I was using
the Fuji like a Leica anyway.

Manual focusing is one answer. All I shoot is manual, legacy lenses on my X-E1. In good light I get fast motion (running dogs, etc) in focus by stopping down to about F8. In poor light, you cannot have it all - fast auto focus, wide aperture, small camera, mid priced. That's asking a lot for a very difficult shooting situation. Remember, 30 years ago no one had auto focus, but they still photographed kids and concerts.

hahaha - yeah, you've got a point there.
Besides that I still found a Oly E-P1 + Pana 14/2.5 kinda faster and more accurate than the X-E1+18mm. The Oly was $hitty in ISOs above 640 tho and not as nice to hold and use.

Anyway I'm happy for now - let's see how it goes when we enter the darker half year - the days are already getting shorter now
