AF SLR with traditional controls

I think I already know the answer to this question, but just wanted to double check I haven't missed anything.

What AF SLRs are out there that have traditional controls - shutter speed dial on body and aperture collar on the lens that also meter both with AF and manual glass ? A pop-up flash is a bonus but not compulsory.

I think it essential comes down to the Nikon F4 and Pentax MZ/ZX-3/5 ?
I have a Nikon F4 and it's a great camera, however it can be heavy even with the MB-20 pack. I also have a Pentax MZ-5 and it's almost perfect, but like most of these the mirror return is broken and you have to hold up the flash with your finger.

Before I look into possibly getting the MZ-5 repaired, are there any other cameras I should consider ?

How about the Nikon N2020? EDIT: I just came back on here to say its the same camera as the F501 mentioned above!


Come to think of it.... Although the N8008/N90 family don't have a traditional shutter speed dial, they do come close. Just one command dial, its located up on the top of the camera, and adjusting the shutter speed is its default control (you have to press a button to change ISO, metering mode, motordrive speed, etc). Its pretty unobtrusive.

Works great with Pentax-A lenses in Program as well!

The Contax N1 also belongs here, although the selection of native lenses is rather restricted. With the Contax NAM-1 adapter it's possible to use the superb Contax 645 lenses, and it works flawlessly. When it comes to handling and user interface the N1 is one of my faves.

I have the Pentax ZX-5. And I love it, BUT it is pure plastic. Also, they die, mine has lasted 5-6 years but I bought two dead ones for parts. So maybe not recommended.

There is also the Minolta Dynax 600si. Canon had the EOS 50E.
I had both - rather unexciting cameras.


On the other hand, a Minolta Dynax 9 might be what you need but of course you need to invest on minolta glass.
