A friend of mine is sending me an Afga RF, something to play with. Has anyone had experiance with the Afga line? Please share your thoughts. A nice camera or not?

The Super Solina is a very nice camera. I have one, haven't used it yet, but it works and appears to be well-made, which is generally the case with older Agfas in my experience. The lens, a Color Apotar 45mm f/2.8, is supposedly a triplet and not a Tessar design, but it still has a pretty good reputation. Many people look down on triplets, but it has been said that this is a good one of that type. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

I can tell you the Apotar is a great lens. It beats many other lenses in our lens shoot-out including the Rollei 35 Tessar and Sonnar. I sold my Rollei Tessar almost immediately after the shoot-out. The Super Solina may have a Solinar lens which is a Tessar design (4 elements in 3 groups) which is also a fantastic lens. I only have the 6x6 75f3.5 version. It is one of me favourite lenses. I think old Agfa cameras and lenses deserve more credit than they are given so that one can pick up good bargains very often.

I have this camera and agree with everything said above. I used it to photograph the annual town wide garage sale in Warrensburg, NY two years ago and could not be more pleased with the results even though there are some spots in the lens. It is a true RF. Unfortunately, I don't have pictures on this computer to show, but as long as the camera is in decent shape i guarantee you will be pleased.
