Afghanistan

I don't understand the part about "mistaken identity". Did the shooter think they were election workers? I could not tell by the way the article was written. According to witnesses, the shooter simply walked up and shouted, "God is great", and opened fire. Killing innocent people in the name of a God. It is revolting.

It is a terrible tragedy. Those journalists that cover these hot spots really put their lives on the line.

we don't know how credible this witness is. the policeman who did the shooting was captured alive. more information will be available probably very soon.

I'm not sure why its a case of mistaken identify. Sounds very much like a 'green on blue' to me, of which we have seen many in Afghanistan. Time will hopefully reveal more about why the (probably police) commander shot them. Life is so cheap in Afghanistan.

no mistaken identity. they were in a secure convoy. shooter knew who they were imo. nit the first case of Afghani police or security doing this

True tragedy.
I served German army 30y ago. Sometimes I think we served in a "better" world. Erverything seems so simple that time.
Today I dont understand the most things...

Sad - the pictures are great.

However, to put things into perspective: 5,648 people were killed in Afghanistan in 2013 and since the beginning of the civil war in 1978 between 1.5 and 2 million have been killed.

Why mistaken identity? I did not see mention of that.

What I saw on BBC claimed the policeman was new to the area and the car wasn't suppose to be there.
I am certainly not defending the killing of innocent people just re posting a BBC , early, report.
I think the whole thing is a tragedy and I hope they hold the officer accountable for his actions and don't come up with some lame excuse for a senseless killing.
