The GAS never stops!! Although the money isn't exactly falling out my pockets, I'm looking to invest in another lens, shock horror!
I have the lovely Summicron f/2 collapsible on the IIIc (but the IIIc is awaiting a servicing and RF replacement so the rangefinder is actually usable!!) but the I-50 on the Leica Standard needs upgrading.
So I was thinking, what's the best shot? Pay for another (non)collapsible f/2-ish lens for the IIIc (not a Jupiter lens though, I've only just given away my J-8 as a present to Lauren) and move the collapsible Summi onto the Standard, or look into another f/2 collapsible for the Standard and keep the Summi on the IIIc??
Opinions welcome... and if anyone has a lens that fits either bill at a good price let me know
EDIT: This is dancing on the line of a WTB advert I know, but I'm asking for a bit of help rather than just lens offers.... thought I'd add I have that Zeiss Jena Sonnar f/2 collapsible (not in the best of conditions, some scratches so low contrast) in Contax/Kiev mount if someone wanted to part-ex or trade a lens

The little voigtlander 50/2.5 skopar is a great fit on the little leicas.

Any day now, Clint!
I like Clint's thought about the Skopar, but was thinking of how perfect a 3.5 Elmar would be with your cameras.

I had considered a 3.5 Elmar, but it's slow (and other than being more expensive 'leica glass') I don't see how much more I'd get from it than the I-50 collapsible 3.5 I already have.
I guess I'm after an f/2 collapsible (although the added speed is a little useless, its there as a backup if I ever used it on a rangefinder body)

Canon 50/1.8, or collapsible 1.9?

Can't beat the Canon 1.8 for value (after the FSU 50's). There's one for sale in RFF classifieds now.

Any idea of current prices or european availability... edit: just saw your post frank!

Confirmed RF addict...
Not sure if you have thought of this Ash... The f2 collapsible will make your standard a little less compact than it is with the f3.5. If I really want to go small I take my Nicca & col. Fed 50/3.5 or one of my Rollei 35's. Of coarse none of this matters if you carry a bag or have large pockets

I don't think the slight added bulk from an f2 collapsible will be too noticeable. I usually have big pockets to slip the camera into (the cases and pockets I have used so far have a lot of free space!)

So, a Summar or Summitar? An Elmar is not such an improvement over a collapsible I-10/22/50, except maybe the latest red-scale ones.
BTW, how's the enlarger building going?

The wood is mostly ready to cut for the enlarger, but the weather has been too bad to get in the garden and use the tools from the shed. The next door neighbour/carpenter is rarely home so I haven't managed to see him about doing it for me yet either.
But yes, a Summar or Summitar or something like that would be best. Has anyone got a fair condition one going for a song?
(since its going on the Standard then some surface marks shouldn't matter)

Exposing since 1969.
Have you considered going faster, say a 50mm/1.4 Nikkor or Canon LTM lens? It could open up new frontiers of available "darkness" and increased defocus-blurred backgrounds that you seem to like.

SDK, yes I was considering that, but for the moment I'm not keen on spending too much. I'd like at least f/2, but the money is the biggest factor, especially when I have that CRR cla waiting.
Serves me right for missing the £45 Summar bargains a couple months back. One of them would have sorted me fine!
