Guys I did it.. only one day after my first posting here!
Is it a record?!? :p

I bought a new Bessa R from Stephen...

Gosh!

Rob.

Congrats and welcome Roberto ! You couldn't do much better than taking that new Bessa-R.

Let us know when it shows up !

I think Jorge should put a warning sign for those who enters RFF for the first time

Warning! By entering this site, you are inflicting yourself with rangefinder GAS, a painful and highly contagious disease with no known cure.

:D

Congratulations, Rob, and welcome!

Here's your secret handshake:

Thanks guys for supporting my choice!

As soon as I can I'll post some pic, btw it'll take a while for me to get the camera. I'm planning to have a business trip to Chicago next week and I agreed with Stephen to have the camera shipped to my hotel.. Maybe the first picz will be from a sub-zero Chicago downtown! ;)

I think I'll try the new baby with my Jupiter 8 and my Industar 26M lenses, then.. well.. you'll have to suggest me a good 35mm! :p

Cheers,
Rob.

the cv 35/2.5 is very good and fits the r like a glove. very compact and quick handling too.

congratulations roberto!

Rob - Congratulations on your purchase, but watch your mouth about sub-zero weather in Chicago - I live here! Anyway, welcome to my town. Have you been here before? If you want to get together, let me know and I'll be glad to show you around. I have a few Chicago pics in my gallery here and photo.net http://www.photo.net/photodb/folder?folder_id=363432

Don

Oh Don! Thanks! It would be great to have a coffee together! :D

To be honest I'll be near Chicago.. In Mundelein, but for sure I'll have a trip downtown..

Let's keep in touch!

Rob.

Congrats, Roberto!

If you go downtown Chicago, make sure to visit Central Camera on Wabash. A fine, old, camera store in the classic sense that will leave your mind boggling! Also, they have one or two Leica screw-mount lenses for that Bessa R. You can get some great people shots in that neighborhood as well (always be careful).

Dress warmly, the wind of the Lake is a killer this time of year!

My two 35mm LTM lenses are a classic Canon 35 f2.8 and an A. Schacht Travegon 35mm f3.5. Here's a bump to something I wrote about them, for those who haven't seen this yet:

I guess I should disclose in the sign up letter that you will become an RF addict and lose all financial responsibilities.

Welcome ro RFF anonymous :)

Well, I would have signed anyway! :D

Welcome Rob, good idea to have your camera delivered on a business trip, I'm sure you'll get alot of work done ;) ;) ;)

Rob - Mundelein is pretty far from downtown but if you're coming this far it would be a shame not to spend some time in the city itself. Let me know when you might be downtown and I can meet you somewhere.

Bill's right that Central Camera is interesting, and so is Helix. Both might have lenses for you to consider but neither place is inexpensive.

One more vote for Central Camera. When are you coming to Chicago, Roberto? I live about one hour away, but go there as often as I can. Too bad you won't see the Cloud Gate sculpture in the Millenium Park, but you still get to see the wonderful architecture on Michigan Avenue!

Welcome to the forum... with all the risks it entails! :)

Thanks for the link, Bill. Even though I've seen the lens comparison before, it's still a good read and worth a second and third look. Some 35 years ago I looked at lens being offered by Wall Street Camera in NYC. When I called them about the A. Schacht lenses, I was told by the saleman that they were "garbage". Obviously not true but I didn't buy one because of his negativity. Actually, I didn't buy anything from them at that time because I couldn't afford the higher-priced lenses.

Congratulations on buying the Bessa R, Rob. I'm confident that you'll be very pleased with it.

Hey I work in Mundelein. I don't figure there's much to see here so if I were you I would definitely make a trip in to the city and definitely a trip to Central Camera.

Hello,
I'm H* and I'm an RFF addict ("HI H*", round of applause). I only had a Canonet when I came through these doors and now I'm a full blown addict. I even have a Zorki now, (sigh) I suppose all is lost.
But with all of your help, and my sponsor Russ's suppourt (LOL) I can make it through ~ ; - )
Welcome Roberto.
